RAPID CITY, S.D. – The ‘A’ girls tennis tournament finished up in Rapid City on Tuesday with Mitchell claiming the state championship.
The Kernels finished on top with 499 points. Sioux Falls Christian came in second with 440 points and Pierre was a distant third with 300 points.
Milbank and Yankton rounded out the top five.
Winning individual titles were, in Flight 1, Ella Hancock of Rapid City Christian.
In Flight 2, Olivia Huber of Mitchell.
In Flight 3, Marlee Shorter of Pierre.
In Flight 4, Julia Platt of Mitchell.
In Flight 5, Kiersten Bathke of Mitchell.
In Flight 6, Megan Mastel of Mitchell
In the doubles, Hancock and Anderson of Rapid City Christian won Flight 1.
In Flight 2, Huber and Batke of Mitchell won.
And in Flight 3, Degan and Platt of Mitchell won.
