Monday COVID-19 Update – 181 new cases; no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – The State Department of Health reported no deaths Monday and 181 new COVID-19 cases in their daily report.

Of the 181 new cases, 51 are listed as probable.

With no new deaths to report today, the total remains at 1,585.

Active cases of the virus increased by 62 Monday to 5,102 and the number of people hospitalized rose by 5 to 242.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 14 new cases, with one them listed as probable. The total number of cases in Pennington County is 11,811 with 636 active.

Meade County added 5 new cases with 129 remaining active. Lawrence County reported 3 new cases and active cases are down to 102.

The total number of cases across West River counties was 33 with 7 of them considered probable.

There were 551 new persons tested reported on Monday. Monday’s new person tested positivity rate is 32.8%.

In their vaccine update, as of Monday, 24,047 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and 21,620 doses of the Moderna vaccine have been administered to 38,360 total persons. There has been 7,306 persons completing two doses of the Pfizer vaccine and one person has completed two doses of the Moderna vaccine.
