PIERRE, S.D. – The State Department of Health reported a surge of COVID-19 cases in their Monday report – 48 positive tests, with most of them in Minnehaha County – where an additional 36 cases were tallied – sending their total to 140.
Minnehaha and the Sioux Falls area have become the hot bed for community spread in South Dakota. Lincoln County added an additional case Monday and Yankton County added four new cases and now has 18. Also adding four new positive tests was Brown County, who now has a total of 13.
Beadle County saw another day with no reported positive tests as it remained at 21. The county, however, has reported two of the four deaths with COVID-19 complications so far.
In the Black Hills area, there were no new positive tests reported.
Lawrence County remained at 9 with 6 people fully recovered, Pennington has 6 cases with 3 people recovered and Meade and Fall River County remained at 1 case and both of the individuals who tested positive have recovered.
