Monday’s COVID-19 Report – 509 new cases, no new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – New cases totaled 509 Monday and no new deaths were reported in the South Dakota Department of Health’s COVID-19 report.

Of the 509 new cases, 62 were listed as probable cases.

Active cases remained relatively stable at 16,814 and the number of people hospitalized saw a slight uptick to 503.

With no new deaths reported, the state’s COVID-19 death toll remained at 1,110.

Across West River counties, there were 126 new cases reported.

Pennington County had the most with 58 new cases. The cumulative total in Pennington rises to 9,407 and the active number of cases is 1,928.

In Lawrence County, 17 new cases were reported for a total of 2,219 and 438 remain active.

Meade County added 11 new cases for a total of 1,908 and 404 remain active.

Other new cases across West River included 8 in Oglala Lakota, 5 in Ziebach, 4 in Perkins, 3 each in Butte and Haakon, 2 each in Corson, Lyman, Gregory, Tripp, Mellette, Todd and Bennett and one each in Fall River, Stanley and Jackson counties.

There were 1,200 new persons tested reported on Monday. Monday’s new person tested positivity rate is 42%.
