Monday’s COVID-19 Report – 597 new cases, three new deaths

STURGIS, S.D. – The state health department reported 597 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in their Monday report.

The active caseload statewide dropped to 23,105 and the number of people hospitalized dropped 14 from Friday’s report to 340 today.

There were three new COVID-19 related deaths reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,691. One of the new deaths was out of Pennington County where the death toll rises to 313.

New cases across the Black Hills area included 84 in Pennington County, 25 in Meade County and 20 in Lawrence County.

Elsewhere, Oglala Lakota had 15 new cases, Fall River County reported 13, Butte County listed 9 and Custer County showed 3.
