RAPID CITY, S.D. — The COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by Pfizer arrived in Rapid City Monday.
This first batch of 975 doses will be administered to those who fall into the Phase 1A category which includes staff at nursing homes and long-term care centers as well as hospital caregivers who provide medical care and other services directly to COVID-19 patients.
Emergency Medicine Physician Stephen Dick, M.D. was the first Monument Health caregiver to get the COVID-19 vaccine Monday afternoon.
Widespread public vaccinations likely won’t begin until April or May, according to the South Dakota Department of Health.
