More than two dozen vehicles involved in I-90 crash near White Lake

WHITE LAKE, S.D. – The South Dakota Highway Patrol says at least 24 vehicles were involved in a pile up on I-90 near White Lake Friday afternoon.

The crash helped lead to the closure of the Interstate between Chamberlain and Sioux Falls.

The patrol says they believe a dozen passenger vehicles and a dozen semi trucks were involved. An estimated 40 passenger vehicles and 30 semi combinations became stopped in the pile up that did not receive damage.

Some vehicles entered the median to avoid collisions that were not damaged as well.

Weather conditions were poor at the time, with blowing snow and poor visibility leading to icy roads.

The patrol says thankfully, only minor injuries were reported. They were continuing to investigate the crash.
