Morning individual rounds complete at State A Wrestling Tournament

RAPID CITY, S.D. – After the morning quarterfinals, the Sturgis Scoopers will be sending three wrestlers on to the semifinals Friday afternoon. They include Kelton Olson, Wren Jacobs and Reese Jacobs.

Here is a rundown on how Scoopers Wrestlers did:

At 106 pounds, Korbin Osborn dropped his second round match to Hayden Schroeder of Vermillion in a 10-0 decision. Osborn goes to the wrestleback.

Logan DeSersa lost his second round matchup with Wyatt Stuntebeck of Tea Area in a 4-2 decision. DeSersa heads to the wrestleback bracket.

Beau Peters won his 113 pound second round wrestleback after a Thursday loss by beating Devyn Anderson of Chamberlain 6-1.

Maverick Simons, at 113, won his wrestleback against Jacob Bellefeuille of Aberdeen Central in a 9-0 decision.

At 132, Kelton Olson picked up a 5-3 decision win over Connor Eimers of Tea Area and is headed to the semifinals.

Perry Ketelsen lost a 5-3 decision at 138 to Beau Beavers of Sioux Fall’s O’Gorman. Ketelsen heads to the wrestleback.

At 152, Harrison Good recovered from an opening round loss and got a 9-3 decision win over Carson Holt of O’Gorman.

At 160, Wren Jacobs is headed to the semifinals with a 6-0 decision win over Justin Zirpel of West Central.

At 170, Reese Jacobs is semifinal bound with a win of Brayden Gee of Dell Rapids. That win came via fall at 4:24.

At 182, Robert Merwin got a wrestleback win over Aaron Larson of Beresford/Alcester-Hudson.

At 195, in the wrestleback, Aiden Werlinger dropped his match via a 7-4 decision to Lake Fredericks of Mitchell.

At 220, in the wrestleback, Zak Juelfs lost to James Olson of Brookings.

And, at 285, Buck Fickbhom won his first wrestleback match with a fall against Zach Carlson of Sioux Falls O’Gorman.

A look at tther area athletes who won their opening round:

At 106, Evan Eckholm of Rapid City Stevens lost his matchup with Chandler Carda of West Central by a 17-6 decision. Eckholm heads to the wrestleback.

At 113: Josh Hoffman of Spearfish won his second round match over Andrew Weiland of Dell Rapids by a 4-0 decision. He moves to the semifinals to take on Jack Schoenhard of Rapid City Stevens who defeated Michael Roob of Vermillion in a fall.

At 120, Logan Graf has made it to the semifinals with a pin over Truman Stoller of Madison.

At 138: Cael Larson of Rapid City Central is headed to the semifinals with a win over Elijah Leonhardt of Sioux Falls Roosevelt. Corter Doney of Rapid City Stevens is also headed to the 138 pound semifinal with a 10-1 decision win over Sam Olson of Madison.

At 145, Bryan Roselles of Rapid City Stevens won his matchup with Oakley Blakeman of Spearfish. Zach Soderlin of Rapid City Central dropped his second round match to Gabe Skustad of Chamberlain.

At 152, T.J. Morrison of Rapid City Central and Riley Benson of Rapid City Stevens won their quarterfinal matches. They will wrestle each other in the semifinals. Bailey Badwound of Spearfish, who had hoped to make it to the semfinals, drops back to the wrestleback with a loss to Ben Althoff of Watertown.

At 160, two West River athletes were will face each other in the semifinals. Tyler Voorhees defeated Tyson Degen of Mitchell 16-7 and Wren Jacobs won his quarterfinal over Justin Zerpel. Also at 160, Payton DeWitt of Douglas dropped his quarterfinal to Isaac Klinkhammer of Brandon Valley.

At 195, Ryan Brink of Stevens is headed to the semifinals with a win over Jase Langbehn of Lennox.

At 220, Eli Huot of Rapid City Stevens lost his quarterfinal match to Wyat Winter of Mitchell.

Area athletes who lost their opening rounds:

At 113, Rapid City Central’s Logan Brown won his wrestleback over Noah Williams of Pierre.

At 126, Caleb Richter, who lost his opening round matchup, lost Friday to Dominic Santiago of Chamberlain. Also at 126, Aiden Russell of Douglas lost his wrestleback as did Blake Broderick of Rapid City Central.

At 132, after dropping their opening round matches Thursday, two area athletes picked up wins Friday. Aiden Kracht of Spearfish defeated Byce Reuer of Chamberlain in a 7-2 decision and Jacob McCormick of Rapid City Stevens defeated Will Pavlish of Yankton in a 13-3 major decision.

At 145, Morgan Sandal of Douglas lost o Peyton Fridrich of Bersford/Alcester-Hudson.

At 160, Braydon Bakke of Rapid City Central won his wrestleback by defeating Sutton Bern of Madison.

At 170, Landin Winter won his wrestleback with a 13-6 decision over Lucas Chamberlin of Pierre. Tanner VanScoy of Stevens also won his wrestleback over Tate Elwein of Mitchell.

At 182, Jayden Alexander of Stevens won his first wrestleback with a win over Anthony Marquardt of Sioux Falls Lincoln.

At 195, Jaxson Morrison of RC Central won his first wrestleback with a win over Quin Carr of Dell Rapids.

At 220, Jackson Witte of Central lost to Griffen Schnider of Tea Area.

At 285, Malik Ahmed-Hosie recovered from an opening round loss with a win over Josh Larsen of Harrisburg.  Also at 285, Colton Lauen lost his wrestleback to Samson Flakus of Brookings.
