Motorcycle crash in Rapid City leaves one man dead

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A 29-year-old male has died of injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash Tuesday afternoon north of Rapid City.

The name of the one person involved is not being released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2001 Harley-Davison FLSTF Fat Boy motorcycle was southbound on North Deadwood Avenue when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle went off the roadway and into a ditch.

The driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle. He was transported to a Rapid City hospital where he was pronounced dead Wednesday morning.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
