Motorcycle crash on Highway 44 sparks wildfire

RAPID CITY, S.D. – A motorcycle crash on Highway 44 near Creston Monday sparked a wildfire and seriously injured the rider.

Jerome Harvey with the Pennington County Fire says the motorcycle went off the road, crashed into a fence and started on fire.

The driver was flown to a hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash.

The crash also sparked a wildfire, which Harvey says burned around 50 acres.

The crash was under investigation.
