Motorcyclist arrested for drugs after causing crash Saturday night

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City Police say a man was arrested Saturday night for drugs after crashing his motorcycle into an SUV.

Police say the crash happened at the intersection of North Street and Haines Avenue.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement found the motorcyclist and began delivering emergency first aid. A medical unit arrived and transported the rider to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the SUV.

The motorcycle driver, 35-year-old Omar Ornelas was placed under arrest for reckless driving and possession of a controlled substance after two baggies of cocaine were found at the accident scene.
