RAPID CITY, S.D. – As the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally sets in, law enforcement are encouraging travelers to ride and drive safe.
The increase in traffic is causing congestion on area roads.
Thursday morning, a motorcycle collided with the back of a pickup truck that had slowed for a construction area along I-90 at Exit 57 at Rapid City.
The highway patrol says William Smith of Ashland, Kentucky, was riding a 2010 Yamaha motorcycle westbound when he collided into the back of a 2010 Chevy Silverado pickup truck. The truck has slowed due to backed up traffic due a lane closure at Exit 57.
That motorcyclist suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Smith may face charges in the incident.
