BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. – Belle Fourche Police and Fire are looking into what sparked a blaze that affected multiple structures Saturday night.
In a press release, authorities say emergency services responded to multiple structure fires in the area of Ninth Avenue and Butte Street following reports of an explosion and fire on the north side of Belle Fourche just before midnight.
The fire quickly spread to multiple homes before firefighters arrived on the scene.
The Belle Fourche Fire Department worked swiftly to contain the blaze and prevent further spread.
Officers evacuated several residents. All residents in the affected area have been safely evacuated, and only one injury has been reported at this time.
Emergency crews remain on-site Sunday to assess the situation and ensure public safety. Authorities are urging residents to avoid the area while emergency services continue their operations.
