Nancy Jean Ulrich, 61, passed away peacefully at Monmuent Health Sturgis, SD, Thursday, June 6, 2024. She was born, February 17, 1963, in Deadwood SD, a loving daughter of Chester and Mae Garrett. Nancy will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle nature, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Her favorite hobbies included tending to her plants, caring for her fish tank, enjoying the company of her pets, and finding solace in moments of quiet reflection. She especially delighted in indulging her palate with Shrimp Gold Pan Pasties, a beloved culinary delight. An ardent fan of the band Crowded House and their song “Be Home Soon”, Nancy found solace and joy in music. Her favorite television show, “The Jetsons”, brought her laughter and entertainment. She also cherished witnessing her granddaughter’s volleyball matches, finding great pride and joy in cheering her on. Nancy treasured the moments spent with her family, and her home held a special place in her heart. A seasoned traveler, she explored destinations such as Disney World, Las Vegas, and Bigfork, Montana. Despite the beauty and excitement of these places, Nancy’s favorite spot remained the comfort an d familiarity of her own home.
Nancy attended Sturgis Brown High School and later pursued various professions, including working at the Cheese Factory in Sturgis, Pizza Hut, SCI Rapid City, and Walmart. Her dedication and work ethic were evident throughout her career.
In her 42 years of marriage to Herb Ulrich, Nancy found love, companionship, and unwavering support. She was blessed with two wonderful children, Timothy Ulrich and Jeanny Ulrich, who brought immense joy to her life. Additionally, she had the privilege of being a doting grandmother to Kaydence Ulrich and Kamea Ulrich.
Nancy is preceded in death by her Mom and Dad, and her son Timothy.
Memorial services will be Thursday, June 13, 2024, 1:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis, SD.
