RAPID CITY, S.D. – When it comes to the cattle industry, there is a lot producers can agree on.
Then, there are some things that bring about differing views and opinions.
On Tuesday, Feb. 1 at the Black Hills Stock Show, members of the cattle industry from varying groups will get together in hopes of finding some common ground to the very problems that, while some have different approaches, plague everyone.
The need for unity in the cattle industry forum begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Barnett Fieldhouse at The Monument.
Representatives from the National Cattlemens Beef Association, R-CALF-USA and the United States Cattlemen Association will all sit down with hopes of finding some common ground to the very problems affecting the industry.
The NCBA will be represented by Larry Stomprud, Karina Jones will represent R-CALF and Justin Tupper will be speaking for the U.S. Cattlemen’s Association.
The morning begins with keynote speaker Dr. Gary Sides, who will be talking about agriculture in the new time of ‘cancel culture.’
A panel discussion follows Dr. Sides with representatives from South Dakota’s Congressional Delegation. They will be discussing the effects of Washington, D.C. on family farms and ranches.
The town hall discussion with the NCBA, R-CALF-USA and USCA follows.
The event is free and open to the public and will be live-streamed on various platforms.
