New cases of COVID-19 back up Tuesday; no new deaths reported

PIERRE, S.D. – After a low number of new COVID-19 cases were reported Monday; new cases were back up over 100 Tuesday.

In their daily report, the South Dakota Department of Health reported 157 new cases today; with 33 of them considered probable cases.

The number of active cases went back up to 2,097 from 2,067 on Monday and the number of people hospitalized due to the virus increased by 4 to 71.

No new deaths were reported, keeping the state’s death toll at 1,901.

In Pennington County, the cumulative total broke 13,000 as 13 new cases were reported. Of those 13, two were listed as probable.

In Meade County, 5 new confirmed cases were reported, and in Lawrence County, 2 new cases were listed.

Butte County and Fall River County each reported one new case Tuesday.
