PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Department of Health reported 182 new cases of COVID-19 in their Monday report.
Active cases continued their increase, up 85 today to 1,355. The number of people hospitalized dropped by three from Friday to 73.
One new death was reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,053. The new death was a woman in the 80+ age group.
Pennington County reported 40 new cases Monday, of which, 3 were listed as probable.
Meade County added 11 new cases, with one probable, and Lawrence County reported 6 new cases.
Fall River added 4 new cases over the weekend and there were 2 new cases each in Butte and Custer Counties.
Harding County and Oglala Lakota County each reported one new case.
The DOH’s Community Spread map lists 32 counties as having “high” community spread. That includes Lawrence, Meade, Butte, Fall River and Pennington counties.
