New cases of COVID-19 total 779 in Monday report

PIERRE, S.D. – In their Monday report, the Department of Health reported 779 new cases of COVID-19, with 67 of those listed as probable.

Today’s update covers numbers up until Friday. Numbers from Friday and the holiday weekend will be included in Tuesday’s report.

Active cases increased by 455 in the latest report to 8,778. Hospitalizations decreased by 2 to 238.

Eight new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,494. Two of the new deaths were reported out of Pennington County.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 83 new cases.

Lawrence County added 22 and Meade County listed 20.

Elsewhere, Butte County showed 7 new cases, there were 5 in Custer County, Fall River County added 4 and Oglala Lakota County listed 2 two cases.
