New COVID-19 cases 369, with 153 hospitalized according to Saturday report

STURGIS, S.D. – New cases of COVID-19 were at 369 Saturday and the number of people hospitalized due to the virus hit a new high.

The 369 new cases sent the active caseload to 2,946 and the number of people hospitalized was up 15 today to 153.

There were also two new deaths reported, sending the state’s death toll to 200. The two new deaths were a man and a woman in the 70-79 age category. They were reported in Codington and Pennington counties.

Around the Black Hills area, there were 66 new cases, with Pennington County tallying the most with 34. Pennington County’s cumulative total is 1,960 and of those, 337 remain active. Active cases are up 8 today.

Meade County also saw a double-digit increase Saturday with 14 new cases. Meade has a total of 444 with 97 active. The active cases are up 5.

Lawrence County added 9 new cases Saturday, giving them a total of 321 with 64 active cases.

Other new cases around the Black Hills area included 4 in Oglala Lakota, 3 in Custer and 2 in Fall River counties.

There were 113 total new cases across West River, including 16 in Tripp, 8 in Gregory and 6 in Bennett counties.
