New COVID-19 cases over the past week total 747; three new deaths reported

PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota health officials reported 747 new cases of COVID-19 in their weekly report released Wednesday.

The number of people hospitalized due to the virus totaled 54 this week and the health department reported 38 new hospitalizations.

Active cases of the virus in the state this week total 533.

Three new deaths among cases were listed. The total number of deaths since the pandemic began totals 3,152. One of the new deaths was out of Pennington County.

Around the Black Hills area, Pennington County reported 77 new cases this past week. Lawrence County added 13 new cases and Meade County listed 18.

Elsewhere, Butte County reported eight new cases, Custer County had 2 new cases, Fall River County showed six and Oglala Lakota County had 22.
