New COVID-19 cases this week total 373 with three new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – This week’s COVID-19 update is out, and for the second week in a row, cases saw an increase.

The state health department reported 373 new cases over the past week with active cases rising to 766.

There are 25 people hospitalized; down 13 from last week.

Three new deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 2,915. Of the three new deaths, two were reported in the Black Hills area with one each out of Butte and Pennington Counties.

Pennington County had 47 new cases this week, down from last week. Active cases were up a bit, however, to 129.

Lawrence County added 10 new cases and Meade County had 7. Active cases in Lawrence and Meade are 18 and 19 respectively.

Elsewhere, Oglala Lakota County had 7 new cases, Butte County reported 3 and there were 2 new cases out of Custer County.
