PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota health officials reported 1,360 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday and a daily record number of deaths were reported.
The state said 22 people had died, raising the death toll to 482.
Active cases decreased today to 13,610 and hospitalizations went down by 8 to 475.
New cases West River totaled 524. Pennington County recorded the most with 196 new positive tests. The total in Pennington rose to 5,377 with 1,409 remaining active cases.
Lawrence County reported 47 new cases, sending the cumulative total to 1,202. Of those, 408 remain active.
Meade County added 37 new cases Thursday, and the total rose to 1,127. There are 241 active cases in Meade.
Butte County added 14 new cases, sending their total to 465 with 197 remaining active.
Other new cases West River Thursday include 32 in Oglala Lakota, 21 in Dewey, 18 in Todd, 11 in Bennett, 9 each in Custer, Lyman and Gregory, 8 each in Corson and Stanley, 5 each in Ziebach and Mellette, 4 in Jackson, 2 in Jones and one each in Fall River, Perkins and Haakon.
