New COVID-19 cases up Tuesday; three new deaths reported

PIERRE, S.D. – Tuesday’s COVID-19 report from the state Department of Health showed 229 new cases and an additional three new COVID-19 related deaths.

The 229 total new cases included 54 listed as probable.

The new deaths send the state’s death toll to 1,973 since the pandemic began.

Active cases statewide are down by 67 to 1,445. The number of people hospitalized dropped by 2 to 103.

Across the Black Hills area, Pennington County added 23 total new cases with 2 of those considered as probable.

Lawrence County added 8 new cases and both Meade and Custer County added 6 new cases each.

Two new cases were listed in Fall River County and there was one confirmed new case in Butte County.
