New COVID-19 cases Wednesday total 99 with another three new deaths

PIERRE, S.D. – The Wednesday COVID-19 report indicated 99 new cases statewide, with 25 of those listed as probable.

For the third day in a row, another three deaths were reported, sending the state’s death toll to 1,976. The new deaths were two women and one man out of Kingsbury, Lake and Todd counties.

Active cases dropped by 60 to 1,385 and the number of people hospitalized was down one to 102.

Across the Black Hills area, there were 21 new, confirmed cases and 4 probable cases.

Pennington County had the 4 probable cases as well as 12 confirmed new cases for a total of 16.

Butte County added 3 new cases Wednesday and Lawrence County added 2 new cases.

Meade County had one new case.

Other new cases included 2 in Custer County and one new case in Oglala Lakota County.

As of Wednesday, 55.23% of the population eligible for the vaccine in South Dakota has received at least one dose while 47.96% have completed the vaccination series.

Vaccines are currently being given to anyone 16-year-old and above in South Dakota.
