PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota health officials reported 21 new deaths Saturday as active cases of COVID-19 continued to decline.
New cases Saturday totaled 564 and active cases dropped to 8,496.
The number of people hospitalized also fell again today, from 387 Friday to 365 Saturday.
The new deaths push the state’s death toll to 1,350.
New cases across West River totaled 152.
Pennington County added 75 new cases, sending the cumulative total to 10,454. There are 1,100 active cases in Pennington.
Meade County added 14 new cases to send the total to 2,111 with 220 remaining active.
Lawrence County had 9 new cases Saturday, sending the cumulative total to 2,406 with 217 still active.
Other new cases across West River included 8 in Oglala Lakota, 7 each in Custer, Dewey and Tripp, 5 in Fall River, 4 in Todd, 3 each in Butte and Perkins, 2 each in Haakon and Mellette and one each in Harding, iebach, Lyman, Jackson, Gregory and Bennett.
