PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota health officials reported 601 new COVID cases over the past week.
In their weekly report, the health department said there were 23 new hospitalizations due to the virus with a total of 41 this week.
Active cases were at 355.
Five new deaths among cases was reported, sending the state’s death toll to 3,209. One of the new deaths was out of Pennington County.
New cases around the Black Hills area included 47 in Pennington County, 20 in Meade County and a dozen in Lawrence County.
Elsewhere, Oglala Lakota County reported 16 new cases, Fall River County had 5 and Butte County added two.
