STURGIS, S.D. – On a pleasant Friday evening, Sturgis hosted its second annual Artwalk Sculpture Unveiling Ceremony and Artists Reception.
As part of the celebration, four new sculptures were unveiled on Sturgis’ Main Street.
The four new sculptures are ‘Maximus Moose,’ ‘Oculus,’ ‘Wind Spirit,’ and ‘Dystopia.’
Maximus Moose is by local artist Travis Sorensen, Oculus was done by Jeffrey Satter, Jerry McKellar is the artist behind Wind Spirit and Dystopia was done by T. James and A Demarais.
The Artwalk ceremony is put on by the Downtown Improvement District, Sturgis Area Arts Council, Greater Sturgis Foundation and the city of Sturgis.
Downtown Business Improvement District Chairman Mark Bruch says he hopes the new sculptures will draw more foot traffic to the downtown area.
