RAPID CITY, S.D. – A New York man who was recently convicted of a triple murder has filed a motion for a new trial.
Arnson Absolu was convicted of three first-degree murders and is currently serving three consecutive life sentences. He was convicted for the deaths of Ashley Nagy, Charles Red Willow and Dakota Zaiser.
On Monday, Absolu’s defense team submitted a motion for a new trial, stating a primary witness is a “person of interest” in the November 2022 homicide.
In their motion, the defense called it a “violation of a defendant’s due process rights.”
While the defense says credibility was a key issue in the trial and the new information could have raised reasonable doubt, prosecutors had said this particular witness was not and is not on trial for another murder.
