DEADWOOD, S.D. – According to statistics released today by the South Dakota Commission on Gaming, Deadwood’s March 2022 gaming handle was down 6.52 percent over March of 2021 despite a new monthly record on sports wagering, with slot machine handle decreasing by 7.38 percent, when compared to March 2021. The table game handle decreased by 4.47 percent when compared to 2021 March’s table game handle. Deadwood’s sports wagering operations set a new monthly record with $975,347 in wagers in March. Deadwood gaming operators rewarded players with $1,515,434 in “free-play” for the month of March, leaving taxable adjusted gross revenues of $11,72,127 for March of 2022.
“Despite a new monthly record on sports wagering, thanks to March Madness, Deadwood’s overall gaming slowed in March,” said Mike Rodman, executive director of the Deadwood Gaming Association. “Deadwood, like the rest of the country, is experiencing the effects of the national economic downturn.”
