Deadwood gaming sees higher slot machine numbers for May
DEADWOOD, S.D. – According to statistics released recently by the South Dakota Commission on Gaming, Deadwood’s May 2022 gaming handle was up 1.77 percent over May of 2022, with slot machine handle increasing by 2.34 percent, when compared to May of 2021. The table game handle decreased by 9.74 percent when compared to 2021 May’s table game handle. Deadwood’s sports wagering operations also fell to $307,995 in wagers in May. Deadwood gaming operators rewarded players with $1,365,871 in “free-play” for the month of May, leaving taxable adjusted gross revenues of $11,812,796 for May of 2022.
“We were pleased to see May’s numbers up, especially when compared to a strong May in 2021,” said Mike Rodman, executive director of the Deadwood Gaming Association. “May is usually a good indication of the trend for the summer season.”
Deadwood’s summer concert and event season is in full swing and is highlighted this year with the 100th Anniversary of the Days of 76, July 24-30.
