Duane Ewalt, age 75 of Alzada, Montana, died Monday, November 22, 2021 at the Monument Health Rapid City Hospital.
The funeral service will be held 11am Friday, December 3rd, 2021 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills in Belle Fourche. Visitation will be held 5 to 7pm Thursday, December 2nd at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery, in Sturgis, with Military Honors provided by the Belle Fourche Veterans Honor Guard.

Duane Ewalt was born September 3, 1946 in Spearfish. He was the son of Robert “Bud” and Margaret (Owen) Ewalt. During the Vietnam War, Duane served America in the U.S. Army for two years. Duane was honored in receiving the Purple Heart from his injuries there, and his wartime experience stayed with him for the rest of his life. He was a brave American soldier. Duane is survived by his wife, Debbie of Alzada MT; children, Sophia (Matthew) of Houston Texas, Samuel of Bozeman Montana, Sara of Tallahassee Florida; grandson, Arthur Behrmann; sisters, Celia Taylor of Sacramento CA, Anita (Geoff) Burnaford of Alameda CA; half-brother, Mark Schwartz of California; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and step-father, Dave Schwartz.
