SUNDANCE, Wyo. – In a late afternoon/early evening update, fire officials say the Fish Fire is now 6,500 acres. A type 1 team will be taking over on Wednesday to help combat the ongoing fire.
There is no listed containment on the fire.

SUNDANCE, Wyo. – Fire crews were reportedly making some progress on containment lines as they continued to battle the Fish Fire south of Sundance which grew to 3,800 acres Tuesday.
The fire made an overnight run to the south, putting residents along Highway 585 down to Four Corners on alert.
Weston County Emergency Management stated in a Facebook post earlier today that there no evacuation orders in place for Weston County residents. However, they are on alert to be ready to leave if needed.
Residences south of Canyon Springs Road to the south end of the fire and east of Wyoming Highway 585 in Crook County were evacuated earlier and remained under the evacuation alert today. Fire crews have been providing structure protection and there has been no report of any structures lost.
The fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain, making it difficult for firefighters to fight it. An air attack has been an important firefighting tactic so far as helicopters and air tankers make water and fire retardant drops.
Because of the fire’s proximity to Highway 585, it has been closed between Sundance and Four Corners.
The fire is human caused.
Smoke from the fire has blanketed a large portion of western South Dakota, including here in Sturgis.
