Hill City Sweeps Scoopers in Dominating Volleyball Win

STURGIS, S.D. — The Hill City Rangers remained undefeated following a convincing three set victory over the Sturgis Scoopers on Thursday night, 25-12, 25-9, 25-9.

The Scoopers battled throughout set one but the Ranger defense was stingy and slowly built a lead with a 5-0 run midway through the set.  Abby Siemonsma ended set one with an ace and Hill City led one set to zero after a 25-12 win.

The Rangers showed why they haven’t lost a set all season with dominating performances in sets two and three.  The dynamic duo of Siemonsma and outside hitter Macey Wathen couldn’t be stopped, as Wathen finished the night with 13 kills, three aces an a block.  Siemonsma contributed 22 assists.  Joellen Cano had 9 assists, one kill and one ace for Sturgis.

Hill City improves to 10-0 on the season and Sturgis drops to 1-11.  The Scoopers are in action next on Tuesday night, Sept. 21 at West Gym when they host the Spearfish Spartans.  First serve is scheduled for 7pm.
