LeeAnn Sargent

LeeAnn Sargent was born on July 26, 1938, to John Batista Zucco (Tino) and Irma Leone (Holvey) Zucco at Lawrence County, in SD. She was an only child, although for many years wished for a sibling. She attended catholic schools her whole life.

She worked for Homestake Mining Company most of her life. She started out as a candy stripe at the Homestake hospital and went on to work as a lab tech for many years. When the hospital closed down, she went to the Metallurgical Department until her retirement in 1993.

She married the love of her life Jerry on February 3, 1961. To this union they had four children Randy, Rick, Terry, and Sherry.

LeeAnn spent many years doing what she loved, camping and fishing with her husband, Jerry and her two best friends, Rich and Barb Wilczynski. She also was an avid reader.

LeeAnn died on May 11, 2022, at Monument Health Nursing Home in Sturgis SD, due to pneumonia.

She is survived by her sons, Richard (Amanda) Sargent, and Terry (Deb) Sargent; daughter, Sherry Essink; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; sisters in laws; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerald; son, Randand; and son in law, Jeff.

She suffered with Dementia for several years. She will be dearly missed. No services are planned at this time.
