O’Gorman, Sioux Falls Christian, Warner win state volleyball championships

RAPID CITY, S.D. – The 2021 state volleyball tournaments concluded from Rapid City on Saturday with O’Gorman, Sioux Falls Christian, and Warner winning state championships.

O’Gorman stunned top seeded Sioux Falls Washington, coming back to force a fifth set in in which the Knights took the match with a 15-10 set victory.

Isabella Steffel led the Knights with 16 kills while her teammate Macy Matheson added 10 kills, 13 digs and an ace.

Top seeded Sioux Falls Christian won the Class A championship with a straight set win over Garretson. Christian won in sets of 25-15, 25-15, 25-15.

And, second-seeded Warner won the Class B Championship with a 3-0 set win over No. 5 Colman-Egan.

Championship: No. 2 O’Gorman defeated No. 1 Sioux Falls Washington 3-2 (20-25, 16-25, 25-23, 25-23, 15-10)

3rd Place: No. 3 Sioux Falls Roosevelt defeated Brandon Valley 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 32-30)

5th Place: No. 7 Sioux Falls Lincoln defeated No. 8 Huron 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-20)

7th Place: No. 6 Harrisburg defeated No. 5 Pierre 3-0 (25-11, 26-24, 25-21)

Class A

Championship: No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian defeated No. 2 Garretson 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-15)

3rd Place: No. 3 Dakota Valley defeated No. 4 Wagner 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 28-26)

5th Place: No. 7 Elkton-Lake Benton defeated No. 5 Hill City 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-21, 26-24)

7th Place: No. 6 Hamlin defeated No. 8 Parkston 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 24-26, 25-18)

Class B

Championship: No. 2 Warner defeated No. 5 Colman-Egan 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-8)

3rd Place: No. 1 Platte-Geddes defeated No. 6 Faulkton Area 3-2 (22-25, 25-8, 25-18, 20-25, 15-12)

5th Place: No. 4 Chester Area defeated No. 7 Aberdeen Christian 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-23)

7th Place: No. 3 Arlington defeated No. 8 Burke 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 25-18, 25-19)
