STURGIS, S.D. – Paws on Main will soon be on the move.
Owner Tiffany Smith is moving her dog grooming business to a home on Main Street.
The home is located in a residential area, however, and she needed a Use on Review to operate at the structure located at 1547 Main Street.
The Sturgis Council approved that Use on Review Monday night on a vote of 7 to 1 with 1 abstention.
Smith currently rents the old bank building at the corner of First and Main for her business. Smith says a lot of her clientele is elderly and the stairs to enter the building are steep. Plus, because she will need to vacate the building for six weeks in the summer due to the Rally, she was hoping to find something that would allow her to operate year-round.
The home is vacant, and Smith says she will operate her grooming business there, along with Angie Olson, who will operate an office -type business upstairs.
Smith says they plan to completely renovate the building.
