RAPID CITY, S.D. – Police in Rapid City report they have arrested three suspects they say are tied to two shootings.
The first shooting occurred around 3:45 a.m. on August 16th. Police were called to the 3900 block of Pointe West Place. When law enforcement arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital for treatment for what police call “serious, life-threatening” injuries.
Throughout the investigation, police learned of three persons of interest. They are David Mestas and Richard Sanchez, both 26, and 23-year-old Dominique Brave.
On Sunday, Rapid City police learned that the individuals, along with 22-year-old Christina Sanchez, of Rapid City, had fled to Utah and that Brave had been shot to death en route.
Their car was stopped at a gas station near Mona, Utah where Richard Sanchez, Mestas, and Christina Sanchez were taken into custody. Law enforcement confirmed that Brave was deceased.
Richard Sanchez and Mestas have been arrested in Utah in connection with Brave’s murder. Warrants have been issued in Pennington County connecting the two to the August 16th shooting in Rapid City.
Christina Sanchez has been arrested for Accessory to Attempted Murder in relation to the Rapid City shooting as well. She has been booked into the Pennington County Jail.
Police say the investigations, both in Rapid City and in Mona, remain open and ongoing.
