Rural Resilience Retreat planned

WASHBURN, N.D. – Addressing the wellness needs of those working in agriculture or related areas will be the focus of a Rural Resilience Retreat sponsored by North Dakota State University Extension on Saturday, March 25, in Washburn, N.D. The event kicks off with registration and breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and continues with learning sessions and activities throughout the day until 3:30 p.m.

Speakers will focus on topics including realities in agriculture, emotions and communication, stress management, wellness efforts and self-care. The training will provide participants with awareness and skills to support their own mental and behavioral health, along with the mental and behavioral health of others working in agriculture and those supporting agriculture.

“Ongoing farm and ranch stress takes a toll on health, including one’s mental and emotional well-being,” says Sean Brotherson, family science specialist with NDSU Extension. “We say, ‘Sometimes you need help; sometimes you are help.’”

“This program is focused on taking care of yourself and others working in agriculture, and the event is packed with information, activities and fun,” says Bedgar. “We are excited to partner together and make this day of fun, learning and support available.”
