Sturgis boys win team title of Eldon Knudson Invitational Cross Country Meet

CUSTER, S.D. – The Sturgis Scooper boys cross country team placed four runners in the top ten and captured the team title of the Eldon Knudson Invitational Cross Country Meet Thursday.

The Scoopers finished in first with Douglas second and Custer in third.

Winning the boys race was Sawyer Clarkson of Belle Fourche in a time of 16:31.75.

Custer’s Miles Ellman was second and Deron Graf of Sturgis placed third.

Also finishing in the top ten for the Scoopers were Ty Petrocco in fifth, Ray Henderson in sixth and Morgan Papenfuss in seventh.

Winning the girls’ team title was Custer. Douglas placed second and Hot Springs was third.

Winning the race was Ramsey Karim of Custer in a time of 20:37.09.

Kadense Cooley, also of Custer placed second and Kira Ubence of Doulas was third.

Top placing Scooper was Paige Willnerd in 11th.
