SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – After a 10-0 opening game loss on Friday, the Sturgis Titans rebounded in a big way, and upset Sioux Falls Post 15 West in game two Saturday.
Dustin Alan had a walk-off hit as Sturgis scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to win 4-3.
Kain Peters got the win, pitching all 7 innings and striking out three batters.
That momentum carried into a winner take all game three, where Post 15 West scored the game’s only run in the sixth inning to take the win 1-0.
David Anderson, Owen Cass and Ridge Inhofer were responsible for the Titans’ three total hits, but Post 15 West kept Sturgis from getting any runs across.
Gage Murphey pitched 5.2 strong innings and struck out five.
M. Zeman accounted for the lone R.B.I. for Post 15 West.
With the game three win, Sioux Falls West advances to the state tournament.
Sturgis wraps up the season with an 12-24 record.
