GILLETE, Wyo, – The National High School Finals Rodeo heads into the final go Saturday, and South Dakota’s Thayne Elshere remains in the running for a title.
Elshere, of Hereford, finished in third place in Friday’s performance and currently sits second in the saddle bronc all around. Another South Dakotan, Cade Costello of Newell, is in ninth.
In the bull riding, Jestyn Woodward of Custer is second and Letcher’s Mason Moody is sitting third in the aggregate and Piper Cordes of Wall is sitting 12th in the barrel racing. Moody won the Thursday night bull riding performance with a score of 72.
Landry Haugen of Sturgis will have her last shot at making the girls cutting short go in Saturday morning’s final long-go performance.
Denton Good of Long Valley is in sixth place in the steer wrestling and looks to make it to Saturday’s final go. Also looking to qualify is Brylee Grubb of Spearfish and Jaysee Jones of Hayes, sitting 7th and 8th respectively in the goat tying.
