BUFFALO, S.D. – Fire crews made good progress on the lines of the Travers Fire Wednesday and Harding County officials are reporting no smoke from the fire Thursday morning.
New mapping from the air put the fire at 8,017 acres according to Harding County Emergency Manager Kathy Glines.
Glines says fire crews are being very cautious as there are still several places along the fire line that are hot and a good gust of wind could cause it to flare.
Fire crews were monitoring the weather closely and stabilizing the fire lines.
Both fire crews and private property owners were instrumental in keeping the fire away from the town of Buffalo.
