PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem says South Dakota was the last state in the nation to reach the 100 positive case thresh hold for COVID-19.

“We are 15th in the nation in testing, this includes all fifty and Washington D.C. So, while we’re 15th in the percentage of our population that we’re testing per million, we are 45 in positives; that’s good news for us and indicates we are prepared for this marathon.”

Noem says they have also received a large shipment of supplies from the National Strategic Stockpile- Many of which are needed in the the state’s commuinities.

The Governor also says the state is going to get 10 to 15 of the Avid I.D. Now Rapid Test Platform.

“These are going to be testing supplies and equipment that we’ll be able to utilize to get instant results for individuals across the state of South Dakota, and we’ll put them in populations where we can focus on stopping hot spots and making sure we’re getting people answers on whether they are positive with COVID-19 and them immediately be able to isolate them and protect more people.”

Noem also put out a word of thanks to all those working the front lines in fighting the pandemic and encouraged the state’s health clinics to stay open after some closed their doors.
