RAPID CITY, S.D. – The National Weather Service in Rapid City says a tornado that touched down Sunday west of Faith has been rated an EF2.
A damage survey conducted by the National Weather Service estimated the winds reached 118 mph based on the extent of damage.
Weather officials say the tornado touched down just north of Highway 212 about 17 miles west of Faith.
The tornado snapped some power poles as it crossed Highway 212 and uprooted trees south of the highway. The tornado was estimated to be on the ground for 7 minutes before dissipating.
