Of 401 tests, 111 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Monday report

PIERRE, S.D. – The Health Department’s Monday COVID-19 report showed 111 new cases with 25 of them listed as probable. There were 401 new persons tested reported on Monday.

Active cases increased by 43 Monday to 6,031 and the number of people hospitalized due to the virus went up by six to 268.

No new deaths were reported Monday, keeping the state’s death toll at 1,513.

New cases across West River counties totaled 37. The bulk of them were out of Pennington County, where 25 were reported. Of those, 2 were considered probable. The cumulative total in Pennington rose to 11,457 and 838 remain active.

Meade County added 3 new cases for a total of 2,290 with 152 active and Lawrence County only had one new reported case. Active cases in Lawrence County total 116 Monday.

Other new cases across West River included 3 in Oglala Lakota, 2 in Dewey and one each in Butte, Perkins and Ziebach.

In Monday’s vaccination report, 12,734 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and 14,218 doses of the Moderna vaccine have been administered to 26,952 total persons. Locally, Pennington County has administered 1,787 doses of vaccine, Meade County has given out 213 and Lawrence County had administered 172.
