RAPID CITY, S.D. – One person died and another was seriously injured Wednesday evening in a two-vehicle crash near Rapid City, SD.
Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2007 Mazda 3 was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 near mile marker 53. The driver of a 2001 Ford F350 was traveling westbound in the same lane when the Mazda collided with the Ford head-on.
The 44-year-old male driver of the Mazda died at the scene. The 56-year-old male driver of the Ford sustained serious, life-threatening injuries.
The names of the persons involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
