PIERRE, S.D. – There were 77 new COVID-19 cases in the Friday report from the state Department of Health. There was also a new death reported out of Minnehaha County.
Pennington County added 11 new cases, sending their cumulative total to 362 with 173 active. Health Secretary Kim Malsom-Rysdon gave an update on the cases at the Advantara Arrowhead nursing home setting.”
“We do have some numbers there, the number of positives remain at 9 staff and 21 residents.”
Elsewhere in the Black Hills area, Meade County added two new cases and Custer County saw an additional new case.
Meade County has 30 cumulative and 10 active cases. Custer has 2 cumulative and 1 active case.
Other new case numbers by county today include 14 in Minnehaha, 8 in Buffalo, 7 in Beadle, 6 in Clay, 4 each in Brule, Faulk and Union, 3 in Lincoln and one each in Aurora, Clark, Codington, Corson, Davison, Lake, Moody, Roberts, Todd and Tripp counties.
The number of active cases is down 15 today from yesterday to 913. The number of people hospitalized stayed the same at 87.
Deaths during the pandemic now stand at 74. The latest death was a man from Minnehaha County between 60-69 years old.
