One person hospitalized, facing charges after Monday accident

RAPID CITY, S.D. – One driver is facing criminal meth and firearm charges following a multi-vehicle crash in Rapid City Monday morning.

Police say an SUV was traveling west at a high rate of speed on West Main Street when it attempted to turn left on to Jackson Boulevard and went out of control. The SUV then ran into the back of a minivan at the intersection and rolled into a parking lot, before colliding with a parked vehicle.

Police found a gun and meth inside the SUV. The driver was transported to the hospital with serious injures. Criminal charges are pending.

The incident remained under investigation Monday.
