RAPID CITY, S.D. – One person died this evening in a one-vehicle crash three miles west of Rapid City.
The name of the person has not been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information indicates a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound at mile marker 54 on I 90.
The Harley Davidson, operated by a 68-year-old male, did not maintain its lane of travel, and entered the grass median. The motorcycle and its driver became separated.
The driver was taken by ambulance to Monument Health with life threatening injuries where he was later pronounced deceased.
The driver was wearing a helmet.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
