RAPID CITY, S.D. – One person died and another person was injured Thursday in a one-vehicle crash east of Rapid City.
Names of the two people involved are not being released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 pickup was westbound on South Dakota Highway 44 when the driver failed to negotiate a right turn. The vehicle went across the centerline, into a ditch and rolled.
Both vehicle occupants were not wearing seat belts and both were thrown from the pickup. A 40-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene. A 22-year-old male sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. He was transferred to a Rapid City hospital.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
